Big scary meetings

Had some heavy Department of Health / CDC meetings this week. Talked about stock pile percentages compared to percentages of viral mutations and likelihood of success. It makes me a little nervous sometimes when super smart doctors stand up there and say ” I don’t know if it’ll work”. It becomes my motivation to really figure out how we can make it work. Back to the drawing board.

Nurses Appreciation Night

We are going to the Flyers game tonight. First one in probably 15 years. We are going with Val and Kate and about 50 other nurses from Penn. Should be a blast. I like hockey. Mainly the fighting sections and how crazy the crowd in Philly gets. You have to leave early though so you beat all the drunk idiots out of the stadium and on the road.

I’m so ready

Bring on the holiday cheer!! For some reason this year I am really stoked that it is starting early…Not sure why, but I’m just gonna go with it. Heading to the basement today to sort everything down there and get ready for the holiday explosion.

California is not a place I would ever live.

I don’t understand why people still feel they should impose their own beliefs on others. Would you want people telling you who you can love? This isn’t an arranged society and it’s a shame that religious groups and lots people think they can impose their beliefs on others. Shame on them. Mind your own business and live your own lives. Who cares who your neighbor loves?!

We should focus more on banning things like smoking everywhere since smoking can actually KILL you and cause cancer to people near it - yet California decides to ban same sex marriage.

Pathetic.

Sea Isle 2008

The beach house was very different in many ways this year. No surf at all, totally different house and Chuck and I rented it all alone (this was the best part!). Next year we are going to go back to the old place since it was a hastle not having a garage for all the surfboards and beach stuff. it was nice being 4 houses off the beach though! The weather was amazing the entire time so we lucked out as always.

Jenna and E came out all the way from Oregon to spend a week with us. So much fun to just lay around and do nothing!

Here are some of the goods:

The Liberty bell:

Amazing sunset from our deck:

The coolest moss on earth:

I found the most perfect shell and then I turned it over and discovered my friend the snail:

The Phillies came through and broke the miserable drought that this city has been living in. Good work boys!

Flight 93

On our way home from our anniversary trip we went by the Shanksville memorial for Flight 93. It was really nice. Again it was in the middle of nowhere. The sign coming into Shanksville said population 245. Seriously? That seems totally impossible to me but we drove through the town and it is totally possible! There was a whole lot of open space and very few houses.

The permanent memorial will hopefully be done by 2011.

PA

Pennsylvania is really great. You can drive a few hours west of Philly and be in the middle of nowhere. It’s kinda cool to know that places like this still exist. Yeah for open spaces!

ANNIVERSARY

The big five year one was a couple weeks ago. I have been a little swamped with work/school/life so it’s taken me a little while to get this up.

We went out to Falling Water museum and the Kentuck Knob house in western PA. It was amazing. We had the best time.

I am the luckiest lady on earth! Does it get any better then this?

New York City Fashion Week

Evert had some work and Jenna and I got to enjoy some good shopping / partying / eating / drinking / hanging/ wondering / sleeping / chatting girl time. It was awesome. Lucky for us they are coming back again next week so we get even more QT with them :) and E won’t have to work. NICE! Danke E and J. You are the best friends anyone could ask for!!
Here are some of the highlights:
Waiting in line at the Y3 show…

The Y3 show:

The man of the hour and mr adi big pants himself

awww..such a cute couple

“Master E”:

Cec and his ladies near the Soho Grand:

Only in NYC..sidewalk suntanning. Middle of the day on a Tuesday. awesome:

The Hotel was amazing. The Empire up on the west side on 63rd. The roof top was great. Cool bar and hang out area but a weird situation with drinking. You can only drink behind the glass in the bar. no alcohol out in the open. The view and neon sign were worth the sacrifice..

It rained really hard one morning and I caught this shot from the hotel room window. Two hug bus tours full of people in trash bags. Hilarious.

The new Y3 store opening in Soho…

I need one of these..

If they weren’t sold out through 2010 and I had a couple 100,000 dollar bills around…I would buy one in a second!

So amazing and the movie/marketing/ad design is even brilliant. BRAVO!

The bruce visit

Denny and Kim are living down in Tampa right now and they ventured out to the gulf to see us while we were down in Florida. They got to introduce us to their new guy Easton. He was awesome as was Brighton. We had a blast playing soccer and swimming and just catching up.

Hurry up and finish your house so you can move back to the Jersey shore already!! We miss you guys…

SEPTEMBER 11…

So sad. I love and hate this day at the same time if that’s possible. Equally - in fact.

It makes me super thankful for my friends that I have and super sad I didn’t get to say good bye to the ones I don’t have anymore.

Taught me to say what you need to say. No matter what.

Florida

Went down to Sarasota for a long weekend over labor day. It’s always great to get down to the gulf coast and do nothing for a few days. The weather was crazy. We had some serious rain and wind one day from the hurricane - but nothing too crazy. There were even huge waves and tons of people surfing. In the 10 years we’ve been going here, this is the first time I have even seen waves. Can’t wait to go back next year…

Portland Fun

We ran into Gin at some random bar in Portland. She was getting some ink done and we were boozin’ it up at the pre-wedding party. So great to see her and catch up. She’s got deep PA roots and we love her!! Come visit us soon girl!

What was he thinking

A total snake from Delaware. Those of us that have grown up with this guy being our neighbor can tell ya the man is a total “flip flopper”. Horrible choice. He is not even interested and only said yes for the “good of the party”…and the “first African American”….great. That’s all we need is a guy that doesn’t even want to be there.

PDX Weddin’

It was so much fun out in Portland this year. We did something a little different since Jenna and Evert planned their wedding for the end of July..we skipped our annual forth of July trip and came out at the end of the month for the festivities. If it wasn’t for ridiculous gas prices we def would have gone for both since Chuck was so sad to not have the opportunity to blow shit up this year. Next year will have to be bigger and better to make up for it.

The wedding was amazing! In every single way. Great food, fun dancing, amazing house and most of all the best friends anyone could ask for! Thanks Faz - as always - for being the host with the most and Jenna and E for just being you. Everything was fantastic and perfect and wonderful and…yeah.

It was so great to hang with truly genuine friends and drive go-carts and hit balls in the batting cages and play vibrating video games with everyone. Thanks for making us feel so welcome year after year. It never gets old coming out there…and who knows…maybe if someone comes in as the high bidder we may just make the move back! HA

West Chester Randoms

We went to the roof top Mexican joint one night with the Argentines. The food sucks there, but the drinks and the view are great. We stayed for a few cocktails and head to get some sushi after…
